“Dutch Masters” recreated @ Floriade 2012 by Scala photography
For the Floriade 2012, the World Horticultural Expo in Venlo (the Netherlands), the team of Scala photography recreated 9 famous paintings by “Dutch Masters” and 20th century painters.
Guided by the theme of the Floriade pavilion House of Taste: “Masterpieces of Mother Nature”, 9 world famous Dutch paintings where recreated and photographed in different ways as a tribute to Dutch agricultural and horticultural products.
Composed of fruit, vegetables, fish and meat, the pictures refer to the craftsmanship of both the “Dutch Masters” and the quality of Dutch agricultural products and technology.
Different techniques where used , from a mosaique built from nuts, dried fruit and legume for Rembrandt’s 1661 self-portrait, up to a 3-dimensional structure with fruit for a composition by Mondriaan. Also graphic compositions for paintings by Escher and Karel Appel and a reconstructed scene for Vermeer’s “Milkmaid”.
